Rays of One Light: Weekly Commentaries on the Bible and The Bhagavad Gita

Reincarnation – the Spiral Staircase

Truth is one and eternal. Realize oneness with it in your deathless Self, within.

The following commentary is based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda.

In the Book of Revelation, Chapter 3, Jesus Christ tells us: “Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out.”

There is a difference between Church dogmas, which are based on reasoned deductions from Scriptural statements, and the pronouncements of wisdom, which are based on the inner realization of Scriptural truths. Reason, like a train, can only follow already-existing tracks of human experience. Human memory, being short, is seldom able to cross back over the threshold of a person’s present existence. Biblical references to previous lifetimes on earth are overlooked in the deductive process, and we find them therefore excluded from the body of official dogma. Nevertheless, such references exist. The Bible itself presents them – as does Jesus in this passage – not as abstract teaching, but as direct, personal perception of truth.

In the same way Krishna, in the Bhagavad Gita, silences Arjuna’s reasonable doubts on the subject not by reasoned argument, but by the frank statement contained in the fourth Chapter of that great Scripture:

Arjuna, you and I have passed through many births. I know all of them, though you, O chastiser of foes, recall them not.

Thus, through holy Scripture, God has spoken to mankind.

Whispers From Eternity

104. Let all rest in the Shade of my Peace

The breeze of Thy love wafts through me, O Father. Leaves on my tree of life tremble gently in response to Thy coming. My soul-blossoms have begun to awaken. The rustling murmur of my thought-leaves, whispering in the ether, calls to all matter-weary beings to come rest in the shade of my peace, received from Thee.

Revelation Chapter 3:12

We will take these sacred words into our meditation together for deep reflection and contemplation. But firstly, we will listen to some beautiful music by Swami Kriyananda, “Vieni presto, Gesu”.

Peace Sangha

Today, I was inspired by Revelation Chapter 3:12 “Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out.”

This verse gently reminds us that we all have the inner strength needed to face life’s many challenges with hope and faith. This faith not only sustains us during difficult moments but also brings deep comfort through the comforting peace of the Divine presence. Like a strong, unshakeable pillar holding up a magnificent temple, those who overcome their trials are granted a place of safety and lasting strength. Even in our darkest and most trying times, we can trust with confidence that we will be supported and find a peaceful refuge where we are never forgotten, abandoned, or left out.

This powerful message encourages us to continue to turn towards the light and love, to be patient and gentle in our struggles, to keep the faith alive, and to have the courage to keep moving forward along our unique path of healing and personal growth.

A Prayer for Spiritual Victory

Heavenly Father, together in Thy light, please grant us the strength and courage to overcome all our trials and challenges, and help us remain steadfast in your infinite love. May we become strong pillars of your faith and hope, standing firm and unshaken, fully secure in your eternal and ever present grace. Kindly guide our hearts and minds to trust deeply in your divine wisdom, and to find true peace and comfort in the promises you have given us.

Aum, Peace Amen
